About
Michael Lazar, LCSW, CSAT-S, ICGC-I
I specialize in helping individuals in the early — often crisis — stages of recovery from sex and love addiction, problematic pornography use, gambling addiction, and compulsive technology or gaming. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the consequences of these behaviors or burdened by shame, you’re not alone — and recovery is possible. My approach is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and rooted in deep clinical expertise. Together, we’ll work to create safety, stability, and a path toward long-term healing. I approach my clinical work with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and intensive therapeutic interventions.
As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Supervisor (CSAT-S), I bring advanced training in compulsive sexual behavior, infidelity, and rebuilding trust — including fostering empathy in partner relationships. I have worked extensively with individuals facing complex emotional and relational challenges, including narcissistic and borderline personality dynamics.
I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Substance Abuse Studies), and a Bachelor of Science in Substance Abuse Counseling from the University of Cincinnati. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the American Foundation for Addiction Research (AFAR), helping to advance evidence-based treatment and research.
